The Tweets of the week have been quite popular on velowire.com when they listed every week the best Tweets of the cycling world.
After a long interruption, you can find below a special edition of Tweets of the week, dedicated to the Giro d'Italia 2014. Indeed, the Italian Grand Tour seems to have given the inspiration to the twitter-riders, a reason for velowire.com to select the best out of them!
The Giro d'Italia, isn't that the Tour of Italy?
Yes indeed, the Giro d'Italia is the Tour of Italy, but that's not a reason for the Tour to stay in Italy and this year it thus started in Ireland, with 3 stages, one team time trial and two stages in line. In the same way, the Tour de France 2014 will start in the Yorkshire, and more precisely in Leeds ... ...> Read the whole story | no comments | shown 6413x
This week in the Tweets of the week, we'll have a look at the most interesting, funny, disturbing or original Tweets since August 19th.
These are thus somehow the Tweets of the month in which we'll have a look at the original video "Call me maybe" of the Orica-GreenEDGE team during the Vuelta a España, the varying result of the team time trial in this same race and the high temperatures in the Tour Poitou-Charentes. And let's not forget the original names of riders, the famous Tour of Hangzhou, speeding riders, attacks by Alberto Contador and the refusal of a new iPhone 5. And still, I haven't mentioned everything!

It's been a few months already but finally, the Tweets of the week make their comeback! It's not easy to write an article every week with the best of the best on Twitter in the world of cycling since this takes lots of time to read all the tweets, to make a selection and finally to write the article ... today we take a look at the past week in 10 tweets!
From Lars Boom and his stowaway in his suitcase to Bernard Hinault seen by Philippe Gilbert, we live the dream of BMX during the Olympic Games and some connection problems with ... Movistar.
Lars Boom's stowaway
Lars Boom (Rabobank) was probably at that moment not quite sure yet he would win the Eneco Tour one week later but when he was packing his stuff, his girlfriend, Niké Timmermans, saw that the rider of the Dutch team was about to take a stowaway with him ... and that was their own daughter Kee who perfectly fitted in the suitcase ...> Read the whole story | 2 comments | shown 4356x
In the Tweets of the week this week, we discover thanks to Chris Froome (Team Sky) that cycling is the one and only real sport, while Robert Gesink knows the places where to take his friends to and Michele Acquarone shows some compassion with the riders of the Giro. We also see that Filippo Pozzato is like a fish in the water during his holidays ... and many more!
Chris Froome: cycling is not a game
Halfway through the week, Chris Froome, the South-African rider of Team Sky who usually describes his incredible adventures to his team mates, published a citation of Jean de Gribaldy, a former French rider (of the '40/'50s).

The Tweets of the week took a long break, no less than 2 months to be precise ... I've been quite busy with other things and have thus not been able to collect them and publish them here during this period. Today they're back with photos judged too sexy of Mark Cavendish, what the riders do during the after season, foreign riders who arrive in European teams and the vampires of the UCI ...
Too sexy photos of Mark Cavendish?
We're currently in the after season and that's thus the period during which most of the riders go on holidays and take some time off their bike. One of them is Mark Cavendish who was on holidays with his girlfriend Peta Todd and her son (by the way, they also announced during these holidays that Mark will become a daddy because Peta is pregnant again) and when Peta leaves him alone for a moment, the young future dad publishes a photo of his legs, saying that e ...> Read the whole story | 2 comments | shown 5145x
Out of the 3 Grand Tours, the Giro d'Italia is the one which has best understood the interest of Twitter and the Italian race has thus been present on Twitter since several years. Not only to publish news and information about the fight for pink but also to make the race more participative.
The most recent initiative is the integration of the most original Tweets in the maglia rosa of the Giro d'Italia 2012.
A few weeks ago, the Giro d'Italia's Twitter account, @giroditalia organised a vote of the most popular climbs of the Giro in order to decide whether or not they would be included in the race course in 2012, today RCS Sport (the organisor of the Giro) pushes the limits even further ...

As usual in June everyone was looking at the Critérium du Dauphiné, test- and training race for many riders looking forward to the Tour de France. In the Tweets of the week we thus find the Dauphiné, but also water probls for Mark Cavendish, congratulations (or not) for Bradley Wiggins, rain which disappoints David Zabriskie, and many other topics ...

You're currently reading a very late edition of the Tweets of the week, for last week. An edition which is thus rich that I didn't want to keep you from reading it.
From the bug in the copying machine, eating habits of the riders and the weather which bothers them, we also discover the new washing bags for the Rabobank team and the big comeback of Alex Dowsett.
When the search for audience becomes indecent
You might know what I think of the website Cyclism'Actu which is almost a 100% copy of articles stolen elsewhere, in most of the cases without mentioning the source.
The way the so-called "journalists" of Cyclism'Actu behave is unacceptable and they don't even realise that their way of working is completely incorrect (a discussion with one of them on Twitter confirmed this).
In the Tweets of the week this week: huge iPhones, lost bikes, trouble between team mates using the same room and a size problem for Cavendish ... among others!
Peter Sagan is a good marketeer
Ted King (Team Liquigas-Cannondale) can count on the help of his team mate, Peter Sagan, who never misses an opportunity to promote his friend's web site, as we can read in Ted King's tweet this week.
