With a new UCI Pro Continental Team licence for the team, for the 3rd year in a row, the African team is hoping to participate in the Tour de France this year and the invitation for the Tour of Qatar and for the Tour of Oman by A.S.O. (the same organisor as the Tour) might be a good start towards this goal.
This Saturday the 3rd Grand Tour of the year, the Tour of Spain 2014, will start in Jerez de la Frontera with a nightly team time trial of 12.6 kilometers.
3,239.9 kilometers and 21 stages later, the Vuelta a España 2014 will end with an individual time trial around Santiago de Compostela.

After having seen the wildcards for the Giro d'Italia being attributed to other teams and since they were not really able to get an invitation for the Tour de France 2014, the African team finally sees its dream become true with its participation in a Grand Tour this year: the Tour of Spain 2014, or Vuelta a España as they say in Spain.
Indeed, today the selection of the teams was anounced by the organisor of the race* and MTN-Qhubeka is one of the 4 teams in addition to the 18 UCI ProTeams which have a guaranteed entry in all UCI WorldTour races.
