Last year we discovered several videos created by professional cyclists, thanks to a camera on their bike, often directly supplied (including the editing of the video) by Shimano. Jérémy Roy of the FDJ team, rider and engineer and interested by new technologies, was one of the first users of such an onboard camera and the French rider thus regularly asks for an authorisation to use a camera inside the race.
He also did this in the Santos Tour Down Under 2015 which just ended today and in this article you can discover or re-discover the different videos he published.
The authorisation

The last stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2015 took place on a 4.5 kilometers long circuit in the center of Adelaide and the riders had to do it 20 times. A bunch sprint was expected at the finish but a small group finally battled for the sprint due to a crash in the forelast lap. Wouter Wippert (Drapac Professional Cycling) crossed the finish line first, ahead of Heinrich Haussler (IAM Cycling), and he almost seemed to be the one who was most surprised!
Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing Team) didn't see his first place in the general classification being threatened by Richie Porte (Team Sky) and thus won the first UCI WorldTour race of the 2015 season.

The 5th stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2015 today was the famous Willunga Hill stage which is traditionally part of the Tour Down Under since 2003 and which often has a big influence on the final general classifiction. This was also the case when Richie Porte (Team Sky) won the stage in a solo attack today, but Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing Team) again showed he's very strong and managed to keep the first place in the general classification!

The 4th stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2015 didn't see one but two breakaways on the Australian roads. At 9 kilometers from the finish, the peloton however came back together and the stage would thus have ended in a bunch sprint with the best sprinters of the peloton of the South-Australian race. A crash however disturbed some of them to be part of the battle for the stage victory and in the end Steele von Hoff (UniSA Australia) won the sprint of a small group of survivors. There were no noticeable changes in the general classification except for Daryl Impey climbing up to the 4th place by winning one of the two intermediate sprints and finishing second in the stage.

A long breakaway initiated and assumed until the end by William Clarke (Drapac) didn't manage to hold on until the end in the 3rd stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2015 today but, as expected, the stage victory wasn't decided in a sprint. Rohan Dennis turned out to be the strongest in the climb which led to the finish and the Australian rider also takes the leader's jersey in the general classification.

After an unsuccessful attempt by Martin Kohler (Drapac), it was up to William Clarke to attack early in the stage. The Australian rider, who was part of the AG2R La Mondiale team in the past, was joined by 3 other riders, Lasse Norman Hansen (Cannondale-Garmin), Calvin Watson (Trek Factory Racing) and Axel Domont (AG2R La Mondiale) and their gap went up to 3'30" ...> Read the whole story | no comments | shown 1876x
The stage between Unley and Stirling in the Santos Tour Down Under 2015 was promised to the sprinters and the victory was indeed decided in a sprint today. Juan José Lobato of the Movistar Team turned out to be the fastest and wins this second stage of the Tour Down Under 2015.

Despite a big number of attempts in the 20 first kilometers, a group of 3 riders really got away from the peloton only at that point. Those riders were Campbell Flakemore (BMC Racing Team), Thomas de Gendt (Lotto-Soudal) and Cameron Meyer (Orica-GreenEDGE).
Their gap reaches its maximum value in the only difficulty of the day, Basket Range after 29.8 kilometers in the race, at 3'35". On the top of the c ...> Read the whole story | no comments | shown 4000x
The first stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2015 took place between Tanunda and Campbelltown today. Today's breakaway didn't even need the climb of Checkers Hill to get away from the peloton and manage to stay ahead of the peloton which came rather close at the finish, thus allowing Jack Bobridge (UniSA Australia), the fastest rider of the four leading riders, to win this first stage. Bobridge also took the ochre leader's jersey of the South-Australian race.
