Karsten Kroon (BMC Racing Team) gave everything he had but finally Rémy Di Gregorio (Astana) managed to win the forelast stage of Paris-Nice 2011 under the rain and against the wind, in Biot.
The French rider attacked from the peloton in the last round on the circuit around Biot and managed, despite a slippery at a few kilometers from the finish, to stay ahead of the peloton and finish this stage with a solo victory.

This morning in Brignoles the riders still hesitated how to dress for this stage, but as soon as they left the bus they quickly realised that today would be a hard day and that an extra layer of clothing would definitely be worth it.
Due to the expected wind and rain, the organisor decided to start 15 minutes early but despite that the riders finished the stage late on the slowest expected time.
Between Rognes and Aix-en-Provence (Puyricard) the riders of Paris-Nice 2011 mesured individually today in a 27 kilometer long individual time trial.
As expected the big favourite, Tony Martin (HTC-Highroad), won this individual effort in 33'24"15, taking over the yellow jersey from his compatriot Andreas Klöden (Team Radioshack) at the same time.

Andreas Klöden won the 5th stage of Paris-Nice 2011 today in a sprint in Vernoux-en-Vivarais and also took the yellow leader's jersey of the general classification. As foreseen, the Col de la Mûre was decisive in today's stage since it allowed to create a leading group which continued straight to the finish and which battled for the stage win in a sprint on the finish line.

Today, the riders ... slowly connected Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire to Nuits-Saint-Georges over 202.5 kilometers. When a 5 riders strong breakaway was taken back, Thomas Voeckler and Blel Kadri decided to give it a try. When the French Champion and Kadri were also taken back at 5 kilometers from the finish, the sprinters teams started to get ready for the second bunch sprint of this Paris-Nice 2011.
Matthew Goss, getting around some riders on the ground at the end of the stage, was the fastest in this sprint and thus took not only the stage victory but also the yellow jersey of leading rider in the general classification. The Australian rider thus took his 6th stage victory since the start of this season!
After a long breakaway led by Yoan Offredo (FDJ), Maxime Bouet (AG2R La Mondiale) and Tony Gallopin (Cofidis), the second stage of Paris-Nice 2011 finished in a bunch sprint. This sprint was won by the New Zealander Greg Henderson (Team Sky).

After a quiet start, two riders created a gap on the peloton early this afternoon during the first stage of Paris-Nice 2011 around Houdan. When they were taken back by the peloton, Jérémy Roy initiated a new breakaway which almost continued until the finish. This breakaway was almost taken by the peloton but Thomas De Gendt insisted and became the winner!

Since 10 years now, the operation Cadets Juniors is a big success in the Tour de France. Thanks to this operation, 4 cadets (15/16 years old) and 4 juniors (17/18 years old) can live one dream day in the most famous cycling race in the world.
This year, ASO has decided to extend this operation to the most important other stage races organised by the company from Issy-les-Moulineaux: Paris-Nice, the Critérium International, the Critérium du Dauphiné and as usual the Tour de France. Last Sunday, the 2011 season of this operation thus already started.
