Due to a red heat wave alert, stage 9 of the Tour de France 2026 — scheduled to take place between Malemort and Ussel this Sunday, July 12, 2026 — has been shortened by 30 kilometers due to the exceptionally intense heat wave.
Originally scheduled to be 185.5 kilometers long, the route will now be shortened to 154.6 kilometers by taking a more direct path toward the stage’s intermediate sprint.

The modified route for stage 9: start and finish unchanged between Malemort and Ussel
After the virtual start, which is still scheduled to take place on Avenue de la Riante Borie in Malemort but has been slightly rescheduled (at 1:45 p.m. instead of 1:35 p.m.), the race will proceed to its parade route through Brive-la-Gaillarde as planned, but will then quickly turn east instead of heading south. After the actual start, the race will follow the D921 toward Lanteuil, where it will rejoin its route as initially planned.The intermediate sprint will still take place in Beynat, meaning it will be contested after only 13.9 kilometers, instead of the 44.9 kilometers originally planned.
As for the finish, originally scheduled between 5:47 p.m. and 6:10 p.m., it will ultimately take place between 5:22 p.m. and 5:41 p.m. this Sunday.
