Paris-Nice 2018: sunshine for the Spanish riders David De La Cruz and Marc Soler in the final stage

Paris-Nice 2018: sunshine for the Spanish riders David De La Cruz and Marc Soler in the final stageThe sun was definitely missing from the final part of Paris-Nice 2018 in Nice (despite the nickname of the race, the Race to the sun), with this stage of 110 kilometers which took place under the rain. If there were any sunrays, those were for the two Spanish riders who managed to get some good results out of this stage, David De la Cruz (Sky) for the stage win in a duo sprint and Marc Soler (Movistar) who wins the race thanks to the delay of the yellow jersey and the bonus seconds!

The summary of the 8th and final stage of Paris-Nice 2018: Nice > Nice

In this last stage, we had to wait until the climb of the Côte de Levens and the twentieth kilometer to see the first attacks, but this first breakaway didn't really work out. Once the bunch got back together, it fell apart in two parts, with a group of 24 riders ahead.

Paris-Nice 2018: Simon Yates solo and with a double win in the 7th stage!

Paris-Nice 2018: Simon Yates solo and with a double win in the 7th stage! The forelast stage of Paris-Nice 2018, who partly took place in the rain, was a difficult stage with several climbs. Simon Yates is the one who managed to be the last one to get away, in the final climb towards the mountain top finish and that's how the English rider not only won the stage but also took the jersey of the general classification!

The summary of the 7th stage of Paris-Nice 2018: Nice > Valdeblore La Colmiane

Apparently the Race to the sun, the nickname of Paris-Nice, doesn't really respect its nickname this year. Indeed, the forelast stage of Paris-Nice 2018 started in Nice under the pouring rain today!

No breakaway attempts before the first climb of the day, the Côte de Gattières, but in this climb we saw sever ...

Paris-Nice 2018: Rudy Molard solo at the end of the 6th stage!

Paris-Nice 2018: Rudy Molard solo at the end of the 6th stage! After the time trial in Saint-Etienne won by Wout Poels (Team Sky) and the 5th stage of Paris-Nice 2018 won in a solo victory by Jérôme Cousin (Direct Energie), it was again a solo victory which concluded the 6th stage in Vence today. Indeed, Rudy Molard (Groupama-FDJ) went off alone just before the last kilometer and won the stage in this way!

The summary of the 6th stage of Paris-Nice 2018: Sisteron > Vence

At the start in Sisteron and despite several attempts to break away, we had to wait for about twenty kilometers before we saw a group get away. Rather quickly this group was joined by a second group and thus formed a big breakaway of no less than 13 riders: Lars Bak (Lotto Soudal), Amaël Moinard (Fortuneo-Samsic), Paul Martens (Lotto NL-Jumbo), Cyril Lemoine (Cofidis), Tom Scully (EF Education First-Drapac), ...

Paris-Nice 2018: Jonathan Hivert goes on till the end with the breakaway and wins the 3rd stage

Paris-Nice 2018: Jonathan Hivert goes on till the end with the breakaway and wins the 3rd stageA stage for breakaway riders today in Paris-Nice 2018 and that's what we've seen, starting with a first breakaway right from the first kilometer and than, once this leading trio falls apart after an accelleration by Fabien Grellier (Direct Energie) in this group, a second leading trio got set up after the first crossing of the finish line, in the final circuit. This leading trio went on until the finish and battled for the stage win, taken by Jonathan Hivert (Direct Energie)!

    The summary of the 3rd stage of Paris-Nice 2018: Bourges > Châtel-Guyon

Just before 11.30AM the race started in Bourges and right from the first kilometer, 3 riders got away from the peloton, more precisely Jay Thomson (Dimension Data), Fabien Grellier (Direct Energie) and Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz (Delko Marseille Provence KTM). Very quickly, these breakaway riders managed to extend ...

Paris-Nice 2018: Dylan Groenewegen strong sprinter in the 2nd stage

Paris-Nice 2018: Dylan Groenewegen strong sprinter in the 2nd stageThe second stage of Paris-Nice 2018 between Orsonville and Vierzon didn't present any climbs and it was thus almost sure that it would end in a bunch sprint. The breakaway took some time to get off and the speed in today's stage was quite low all the way long, but in the end we saw a classical set-up for such a stage: a breakaway of 6 riders which was quickly reduced to two, taken back at 4 kilometers from their goal, after which a bunch sprint was prepared. In that bunch sprint Dylan Groenewegen showed his strong legs by starting off his sprint quite early and winning the stage!

The summary of the 2nd stage of Paris-Nice 2018: Orsonville > Vierzon

The weather was a bit better than yesterday when the second stage of Paris-Nice 2018 set off from Orsonville in the Yvelines department early this afternoon ...

Paris-Nice 2018: Arnaud Démare the best puncher of the sprinters at the finish of the first stage

Paris-Nice 2018: Arnaud Démare the best puncher of the sprinters at the finish of the first stage154 riders came to the start of the first stage of Paris-Nice 2018 in Chatou early this afternoon. This first stage took place in the rain and as usual we saw a breakaway being formed but as usual it was vowed to fail in a stage like this. In the final part of the stage, Alexis Vuillermoz (AG2R La Mondiale) went off alone and first in the climb towards the finish, but the peloton was too strong behind him and despite the expectations it was a big group of riders which went on to the finish. However, only the strongest managed to get a spot in the head of the peloton and among them the champion of France, Arnaud Démare (FDJ), turned out to be the strongest of all!

The summary of the first stage of Paris-Nice 2018: Chatou > Meudon

A small peloton started in this first stage in Chatou this afternoon. Indeed, a reduced peloton because only 7 riders were allowed per team. With 22 teams that thus makes ...
