    Tour de France 2007: (preliminary) selections of ridersUPDATE 9 June 2007: Agritubel and T-Mobile added

    On May 30th the team selection for the Tour de France 2007 has been announced by ASO.

    As of today, fourteen teams already announced their (preliminary) selections of riders: AG2R, Agritubel, Astana, Barloworld, Caisse d'Epargne, Euskaltel - Euskadi, Gerolsteiner, Lampre-Fondital, Liquigas, Predictor-Lotto, Quick.Step-Innergetic, Rabobank, Saunier Duval - Prodir and T-Mobile.

    • AG2R


      AG2R has announced a selection in two parts: one containing 8 riders who are sure they have an entry ticket for the Tour de France and a preselection of another 4 riders who have to fight for the remaining entry. The 8 who are sure to be in the Tour are:
      - José Luis Arrieta
      - Sylvain Calzati
      - Cyril Dessel
      - Martin Elmiger
      - John Gadret
      - Stéphane Goubert
      - Christophe Moreau
      - Ludovic Turpin

      Based on the following list of 4 riders, 1 last one will be chosen to go to the Tour as well:
      - Hubert Dupont
      - Simon Gerrans
      - Yuriy Krivstov
      - Jean-Patrick Nazon
    • Agritubel


      With a prelimary selection of 11 riders, Agritubel still has to scrap 2 before the start of the Tour. Eight riders have seen their participation confimed:
      - Freddy Bichot
      - Moises Duenas Nevado
      - Romain Feillu
      - Eduardo Gonzalo Ramirez
      - Nicolas Jalabert
      - Juan Miguel Mercado (probably their leader)
      - Benoit Salmon
      - Nicolas Vogondy

      The other rider will be chosen from the following list:
      - Emelien-Benoît Bergès
      - Cédric Hervé
      - Samuel Plouhinec
    • Astana


      Astana has selected 12 riders of which 6 are sure to participate. The 6 riders who are sure to participate are:
      - Andrei Kashechkin
      - Matthias Kessler
      - Andreas Klöden
      - Eddy Mazzoleni
      - Paolo Savoldelli
      - Alexander Vinokourov (leader)

      The other 3 riders who will complete this team will be chosen from the following 6:
      - Antonio Colom Mas
      - Maxim Iglinskiy
      - Sergei Ivanov
      - Benoit Joachim
      - Guennadi Mikhailov
      - Grégory Rast
    • Barloworld


      Barloworld, just like AG2R, announced a selection in two parts: one of six riders who are sure to participate to this year's Tour and a preselection of another 8 riders who will have to prove they're worth one of the 3 remaining entry tickets. The following 6 riders will definitively participate:
      - Robert Hunter (South-Africa)
      - Alex Efimkin (Russia)
      - Geraint Thomas (UK)
      - Felix Cardenas (Colombia)
      - Mauricio Soler (Colombia)
      - Fabrizio Guidi (Italy)

      The following 8 riders will have to prove they are fit enought to ride the Tour during the following weeks in Spain, Switzerland and Germany to be part of the 3 additional riders for Barloworld's Tour team:
      - Kanstantin Siutsou (Belarus)
      - Enrico Degano (Italy)
      - Gianpaolo Cheula (Italy)
      - Paolo Longo Borghini (Italy)
      - Giosuè Bonomi (Italy)
      - John Lee Augustyn (South-Africa)
      - Hugo Sabido (Portugal)
      - Pedro Arreitunandia (Spain)
    • Caisse d

      Caisse d'Epargne

      Caisse d'Epargne has already announced its final selection of 9 riders:
      - Florent Brard
      - José Vicente Garcia Acosta
      - Vladimir Karpets
      - Oscar Pereiro Sio
      - Francisco Perez
      - Nicolas Portal
      - Luis Leon Sanchez Gil
      - Alejandro Valverde (leader)
      - Xabier Zandio
    • Euskaltel - Euskadi

      Euskaltel - Euskadi

      This is a preselection of 11 riders, with Haimar Zubeldia as a lead, of which finally 9 will participate. The confirmed riders are written in bold:
      - Igor Anton
      - Jorge Anzanza
      - Andoni Aranaga
      - Mikel Astarloza
      - Iñaki Isasi
      - Iñigo Landaluze
      - Juan Jose Oroz
      - Ruben Perez
      - Amets Txurruka
      - Gorka Verdugo
      - Haimar Zubeldia
    • Gerolsteiner


      For this German team which is sponsored by a mineral water supplier, a list of 5 names has been confirmed for this year's Tour:
      - Markus Föthen
      - Bernard Kohl (probably their leader)
      - Sebastián Lang (if he no longer suffers from his injuries)
      - Stefan Schumacher
      - Fabian Wegmann

      The sprinter Heinrich Haussler has told the press that he would also participate in this year's Tour ...
    • Lampre-Fondital


      For Lampre-Fondital only 3 rider are sure to participate:
      - Alessandro Ballan
      - Daniele Benatti
      - Tadej Valjavec (leader)

    • Liquigas


      For Liquigas 6 riders will definitely participate:
      - Manuel Beltran Martinez
      - Vladimir Miholjevic
      - Filippo Pozzato

    • Predictor - Lotto

      Predictor - Lotto

      Predictor-Lotto also announced a preliminary selection of 12 riders. These riders thus have to prove themselves in the upcoming month since 3 of them will finally not go to the Tour, because a Tour team contains 9 riders. The preliminary selection is as follows (in alphabetical order):

      - Björn Leukemans
      - Robbie McEwen
      - Fred Rodriguez

    • Quick.Step - Innergetic

      Quick.Step - Innergetic

      On Monday June 25th, Quick.Step - Innergetic also announced its preselection which contains 11 riders. After the Belgian Championships, the final team of 9 riders will be announced. The preselection is as follows (in alphabetical order):

      - Tom Boonen
      - Steven De Jongh
      - Juan Manuel Garate
      - Bram Tankink
      - Andrea Tonti
      - Matteo Tossato
      - Sebastien Rosseler
      - Kevin Van Impe
      - Gert Steegmans
      - Cedric Vasseur

      The team will be managed by Wilfried Peeters and Rik van Slycke.
    • Rabobank


      The Rabobank team has announced its final selection for the Tour de France on Monday July 25th. It appears to be an experienced team with 6 former Tour stage winners and only one Tour newcomer (Thomas Dekker). The team members for Rabobank are:
      - Michael Boogerd
      - Thomas Dekker
      - Juan Antonio Flecha
      - Oscar Freire
      - Bram de Groot
      - Denis Menchov (leader)
      - Grischa Niermann
      - Michael Rasmussen
      - Pieter Weening

      The team will be managed by Erik Dekker and Erik Breukink who still have two riders on an additonal list in case one of the 9 can finally not participate (Theo Eltink & Koos Moerenhout).
    • Saunier Duval - Prodir

      Saunier Duval - Prodir

      Saunier Duval - Prodir seems to have announced its final selection already, because their list contains 9 riders (in alphabetic order):
      - Iker Camaño
      - Juanjo Cobo
      - David de la Fuente
      - Jose Angel Gomez Marchante
      - Ruben Lobato
      - Iban Mayo
      - David Millar
      - Christophe Rinero
      - Francisco Ventoso

      Their team manager is Mauro Gianetti and in this selection, David Millar will be a potential winner for time trials (3 time trials are planned in this year's Tour!) and Francisco Ventoso will be there for the sprint arrivals.
    • T-Mobile


      T-Mobile has announced a pre-selection of 13 riders on its website:

      - Mark Cavendish (22/Great Britain)
      - Bernhard Eisel (26/Austria)
      - Andreas Klier (31/Germany)

      - Giuseppe Guerini (36/Italy)
      - Roger Hammond (33/Great Britain)
      - Kim Kirchen (28/Luxembourg)
      - Axel Merckx (34/Belgium)
      - Michael Rogers (27/Australia, LEADER)
      - Patrik Sinkewitz (27/Germany)

      Servais Knaven is no longer on the list.
    As soon as more (preliminary) selections will be announced I'll update this article to reflect the latest information!

    Très sympa les sélections sur le blog. Merci. A noter que les guide du Tour commencent à sortir dans les kiosques : Cyclisme 2007, Velo MAgazine et la france cycliste pour ceux que j'ai vus.
