Back to France! That’s right, after several Tour de France Grand Départs abroad (Barcelona in 2026, the United Kingdom in 2027, and before that, Italy in 2024, the Spanish Basque Country in 2023, and Denmark in 2022), it’s time for a new Grand Départ in France.

In fact, according to our sources, the organizor of the Tour de France is expected to announce this Monday afternoon that the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2028 will take place in Reims and, more broadly, in the Grand Est region.

The Grand Départ of the 2028 Tour de France

On Monday at 2:45 p.m., Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.), the city of Reims, and the Grand Est region will gather the press on the forecourt of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Reims for a press conference to announce “a unique event in Reims”.

The unique event in question is, of course, the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2028.

For now, we don’t know much more, but this Monday, you’ll find detailed information here on velowire about this Grand Départ, likely including the first two stages as well as the starting city for the third stage, all in the Grand Est region.
