The Tour of Spain 2025, or from its official name the Vuelta a España 2025, starts in Italy tomorrow, Saturday August 23, 2025, so it was high time to bring you the OpenStreetMap maps of this 3rd Grand Tour of the year.

Last year, the Vuelta a España had already had a foreign start with 3 stages, but that was in neighbouring Portugal ... whereas this time it's 3 stages on Italian soil followed by a stage between Italy and France that launch the Tour of Spain, a long way from the 5th stage which will take place in Spain. And stages 6 and 7 will see a little excursion to Andorra! As the route book was only made available on Wednesday, for the moment only the first 4 stages are available, and downloading in Google Earth is not available for now (the file will be made available when all the stages have been drawn).

Preview of maps available in the velowire mobile application!

As was the case with the Tour de France 2025, and will be the case systematically from now on, the OpenStreetMap maps will be available as a preview in the velowire mobile app - where you'll also benefit from the map's exclusive geolocation feature (and automatic movement of the map as you move)!

At the time of publication you'll find only 4 stages in this article, whereas in the app you'll have the first 9 steps already available!

📲For the moment the velowire app is still in testing (but it may soon be officially launched), but it's already available for any Android or iOS smartphone or tablet in a fully functional version.

After leaving Alba, the race heads west to Saluzzo, where it turns left to head south to the Busca intermediate sprint, then southeast via Cuneo, before turning east and heading south again from Borgo San Dalmazzo to the mountain top finish at Limone Piemonte (1.383 m above sea level, 9.8 km at 5.1%).

After another night in Turin, the riders head north of the capital of Piedmont, to San Maurizio Canavese, for a stage that loops around to the northeast before returning almost to the start and heading west towards the finish.

The only difficulty of the day is at around the halfway point, at Issiglio (Morris) (2nd category), the intermediate sprint of this stage will be at Cuorgnè and the finish at Ceres.

4/ Tuesday, August 26, 2025 - Susa 🇮🇹 > Voiron 🇫🇷 - 206.7 km

A mid-mountain stage takes the race from Italy, starting in Susa, west of Turin, to France. Soon after the start, the riders climb a 3rd category difficulty, Puerto Exilles (5.6 km at 5.6%), before heading for the border with France, this time up the Col de Montgenèvre (2nd category, 8.3 km at 6.1%). Once in France and after the descent of the latter, another difficulty lies in their path, the Col du Lautaret (2nd category, 13.8 km at 4.3%). At the top of this one, however, there are still 130 kilometers left in this longest stage of the 2025 Vuelta a España, and these will be much simpler than the previous ones.

For those riders who haven't been too badly stalled by these initial difficulties, there will still be plenty of time to catch up for a more or less packed sprint at the end of the stage in Voiron.
