The program for the mixed relay time trial day of the 2024 European Road Cycling Championships

Here is the program for the mixed relay time trial day on Thursday, September 12, 2024:
  • 11:30am-1:39pm - juniors
  • 2:20pm-4:24pm - elite

The principle of the mixed relay time trial

The mixed relay time trial may still be a little-known event. Introduced in 2019 at the World and European Championships, the principle is as follows:
- participation by country teams of 6 riders: 3 men & 3 women
- part of the course is ridden by the 3 men, another part by the 3 women
- men and women pass on to each other at a relay point
- it is the cumulative time of the men and women that will be the time recorded for each country and will therefore give rise to the classification

The mixed relay time trial course

The course, over a total distance of 52 km (28 km for the men followed by 24 km for the women), will start for the 3 men from each country on the same route as yesterday's individual time trials: departure from the brand-new Heusden-Zolder Velodrome in Limburg, Flanders, Belgium, then on to Circuit de Zolder, where the race cars more usually pass. They then head for Viversel, Boekt and Zolder, before continuing south through Halveweg, where they turn west, then south again through Stokrooie and Overdemer before arriving in Hasselt, where they pass on to the women, who then start a circuit (which will also be the main circuit of the road race around the finish line) to the south-east of Hasselt, which they complete twice, before crossing the finish line in the same town, located on the Koning Boudewijnlaan, like all the finishes of these championships.
