According to the Dutch website Sportweek.nl several media have announced that Quick.Step will continue to sponsor Patrick Lefevere's cycling team and that Specialized will become the second sponsor. Lefevere indicated that all news about sponsors of his cycling team is premature and that he hopes to be able to make an announcement at the end of May.

Quick.Step, recently quite successful with a victory in the Tour of Flanders with Stijn Devolder and in Paris-Roubaix with Tom Boonen, had to look for a new sponsor since the main sponsor would stop the money flow at the end of this season.
Apparently the Belgian laminate supplier has changed its mind as we can read at Sportweek.nl. On this site you can also read that Lefevere is currently negociating with Specialized, the team's American bike supplier, which -together with Quick.Step- would pay 4 million euro in the next three years and that Innergetic will also continue sponsoring the team.

In the Belgian newspaper De Morgen Lefevere answered these rumours by saying that nothing is official as of today: "We already had a contract with Specialized. I talked with this company, but saying that this supplier will be our second sponsor is a little bit too early. I have several other potential sponsors. I filed a request with several companies and I'm currently waiting for their answers. The negociations might however become a bit difficult now some people might think I already have a deal. I have an oral agreement from some of the current sponsors, but as long as it hasn't been put on paper there's nothing official." He also indicates he hopes to finalise everything before the Tour of Belgium (28 May-1 June) and to be able to announce the name of the second sponsor at that time.

  2. Hallo Martin,

    Groetjes, Thomas
