With a few exceptions, when we think of cycling races at this time of year, we think of the Belgian classics, and this time it’s the turn of Dwars door Vlaanderen (or Dwars door Vlaanderen - A travers la Flandre, as the race is officially called, with its title in both Flemish and Walloon) this Wednesday. And of course, this comes before the highly anticipated 2026 Tour of Flanders this Sunday!

Dwars door Vlaanderen 2026 features a 184.6-kilometer course, with 12 climbs and several cobbled sections. In this article, you’ll find detailed information on the 2026 Dwars door Vlaanderen route, on an OpenStreetMap map that’s also available for download in Google Earth, the race profile, the schedule, and the list of riders for the Belgian race.

The route of A travers la Flandre 2026 on an OpenStreetMap map

The start of A travers la Flandre 2026 will be at the station square, Stationsplein, in Roeselare, and via Ardoie, Ingelmunster, Oostrozebeke, and the finish town of Waregem, the riders will head toward the hills of Flanders, where there are also a few cobblestone streets.

Before passing through Kluisbergen, the route takes a slight detour to tackle the first climb, the Hellestraat (1,500 m at 3.8% / max 10%). This is followed by a long straight stretch leading the riders toward Oudenaarde and the second climb, the Volkegemberg (1,100 m at 5.2% / max 8.5%). Shortly after a first short cobbled section, Holleweg (600 m), a double loop begins, following a clockwise route toward Ronse and back to Maarkedal, featuring several challenging climbs.

First, the riders face the sequence of climbs: Berg Ten Houte (1,100 m at 6% / max 21%), Knokteberg–Trieu (1,100 m at 7% / max 11.8%), and finally Hotond (1,200 m at 3.1% / max 5%). Shortly after the cobblestones of Mariaborrestraat (2,400 m), the first part of the race—marked in blue on the map—ends, and the riders then head from Maarkedal toward Bosgat, climbing Onderbossenaarstraat (1,400 m at 5.3% / max 10.7%) before returning to the start of the loop to begin the second lap in a clockwise direction, shown in burgundy red on the map.

They thus encounter the first three climbs in the sequence (Berg Ten Houte, Knokteberg - Trieu, and Hotond) as well as the cobblestones of Mariaborrestraat before turning left toward the Eikenberg climb (1,200 m at 5.2% / max 10%), a climb entirely on cobblestones, before crossing Oudenaarde again and heading toward the cobbled sections of Doorn (1,650 m), Huisepontweg, and Wannegemdorp (1,600 + 250 m). A final short loop then begins, after passing through the Nokereberg (500 m at 5.7% / max 6.7%), which is entirely cobbled, the cobbled section of Herlegemstraat—which they specifically seek out via a small detour—and then through the Waregem Hippodrome (as was already the case at the start, on the blue section of the race) toward the Nokereberg climb on the other side (750 m at 5.7% / max 6.7%), and we are now on the final section, the orange section of the race.

On this orange section, they will once again complete this small loop, but upon reaching Waregem, this time they will not pass through the racetrack but will continue straight ahead before turning right twice, toward the finish line at the Verbindingsweg in Waregem. We’ll then find out, around 4:15 PM (the finish is scheduled between 4:05 PM and 4:27 PM), who will be the successor to †Neilson Powless! (who had already succeeded another American winner, Matteo Jorgenson)
