For the first time on the African continent, the World Road Cycling Championships will take place starting this Sunday: from September 21 to 28 and Rwanda, and more specifically Kigali, will host the competition. This major event, organized annually by the International Cycling Union (UCI) to determine who will wear the iridescent jersey for an entire year, will therefore bring the world's greatest cyclists together on the African continent for the first time.
The first rainbow jerseys will be handed out in the solo event: the time trial, which will take place this Sunday, September 21, 2025 for elite women and men. In this publication you'll find the detailed course of these time trials on an OpenStreetMap map, their profiles as well as the starting order and times. You'll also find the route of the mixed relay time trial.
Coming soon, you'll find a new publication, with information on the road races of these 2025 Road World Championships.

Intermediate timing points are located at the top of the Côte de Nyanza and on the NR4 shortly before reaching the cobbled section. For the elite women's race, the U-turn on the NR5 is at Gahanga.

The Kigali 2025 Road World Championships Cycling mixed relay team time trial course - Wednesday, September 24, 2025 - 2x 20,9 = 41,8 km
The course for the Mixed Relay Time Trial, a team time trial with one lap of the circuit by the men, who then pass the baton to the women, who complete the second lap of the circuit, has a total distance of 41.8 km (twice 20.9 km), and is also fairly similar to that of other time trial races. However, the starts and finishes will be closer together, since for this team race, the start will take place on the traffic circle following the traffic circle where the finish takes place. The turnaround on the NR5 is at the top of the Côte de Nyanza. The total distance is 20.9 kilometers, which will be covered first by the men, before the women set off on the same route. As the finish and start are not in the same place, the relay will take place with a green light giving the start to the women as the men cross the finish line. As for the times taken at the finish, they will be established by the 2nd rider crossing the finish line.
