The people present at the Hippodrome de Vincennes on Friday night were not the same as usual. Indeed, around the horse races that night, this was the night of the prize award ceremony of the Coupe de France PMU 2012.

At this French cycling party we of course found the prize winners, but also some journalists, the members of the Ligue Nationale de Cyclisme (LNC) and organisors of French cycling races. The perfect occasion for velowire.com to do some interviews and offer you, like last year, a complete report of the night.

Before the prizes were awarded to the winners, Marc Madiot, in his role as President of the Ligue Nationale de Cyclisme (LNC) (which he currently has in addition to being manager of the FDJ BigMat team), took the microphone for the introduction of the night.

After having thanked the PMU as the sponsor of the Coupe de France (and for having found his wife thanks to this sponsorship), and usual at such a night, Madiot insisted on the qualities of professional cycling in France. Check out his full speech in the video below!

Interview Emmanuel Hubert: « ASO must trust the classification of the Coupe de France »

Emmanuel Hubert, directeur sportif with the Bretagne-Schuller team was also willing to answer some of velowire.com's questions. First of all the directeur sportif looks back at his team's victory in the teams classification of the Coupe de France PMU 2012 before we discussed the team selection procedure for the Tour de France, in the context of the automatic selection of the winning team of the teams classification in the Coppa Italia di ciclismo (see at the end of the article "The participating teams in the Giro d'Italia 2013). Finally, we briefly discussed the future of the team which becomes Bretagne-Seché Environnement in 2013.

If you want to hear all the answers from Emmanuel Hubert, check out the video below!

Interview Patrick Chassé: « I think sprints are annoying »

The last interview will be the longest, the one with Patrick Chassé. Chassé, now Associated Director of the small velobs company which provides audiovisual and web / IT services to the cycling world, talks about several topics related to cycling, sometimes clearly taking position on some of them.

If you follow his Twitter feed you've probably seen that the former commentator on Eurosport quite often has some pretty fixed ideas in mind and this interview was thus the occasion to dive a little bit deeper in what one can read on Twitter in 140 characters which can sometimes be misunderstood. Patrick played the game and thus openly talks about topics like cycling in 2012, the classics from 2'00", the pretty dominant role played by sprinters nowadays from 3'15", the future and the modernisation of cycling from 4'57", the race route of the Tour de France 2013 from 5'43", the Coupe de France from 13'40", the team selection rules for the Tour de France from 16'46", cycling in 2013 from 18'36" and finally the famouse « hotline » created by the UCI and doping in general from 19'31".

The interview is quite long: the video is almost 22 minutes long. That's why I mentioned the times at which the different topics are discussed about. If you're more interested in certain topics than others you can immediately skip to your favourite topic with this information, even though I personally think the whole interview is interesting!

  1. Merci Thomas, vidéos très intéressantes,

mention spéciale pour Patrick Chassé, que j'apprécierais beaucoup sur Eurosport, et mis dehors car opposé à Planete Armstrong, la suite lui a donné raison.
