In January, I announced the news about the organisation of the Dauphiné Libéré by Amaury Sport Organisation from 2010. At that time only the first rumours about the race's route were known and even though I didn't find the time to find further rumours many of you came to read this article.
Today, A.S.O. has officially announced the stage cities of the miniature Tour de France (as I called it in 2008) in the offices of the Conseil Régional Rhônes-Alpes in Charbonnières for the 8 stages of the 2010 edition and the sponsors of the race.

The stages of the Critérium du Dauphiné 2010

In 2009 the change of owner for the press group which organised this race led to a start of the race in Nancy. With the new change, in organiser this time, the Critérium du Dauphiné goes back to its roots with a 6.8 km prologue around Evian-les-Bains and a start in the same city the next day, going towards Saint-Laurent-du-Pont, 191 kilometers further.

The other particularities of the stage race are the 49 km individual time trial from Monteux to Sorgues on Wednesday 9 June, the mountain top finish in Risoul for the 4th stage on Thursday 10 June (start in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, 211,5 kilometers) but most of all the mountain stage on Saturday 12 June 2010. Indeed, after the start from Crolles, the riders will climb the Côte des Fontaines (4th category), the Col du Grand Cucheron (2nd category), the Col du Glandon (hors catégorie) and finally the 21 famous bends of the Alpe d'Huez (hors catégorie). The stage is relatively short with its 151.5 kilometers, but most probably decisive at one day from the finish in Sallanches (start in Allevard-les-Bains, 150 kilometers). The Alpe d'Huez had never before been on the programme for the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. Christian Prudhomme said about this: With the Tour as its big brother by adoption, the Dauphiné is building a more secure future. To start this new life, two giants will meet each other for the first time because for the first time in the history of the race, a stage will finish on top of the Alpe d'Huez.

The last stage is particular due to its 5 rounds on a circuit around Sallanches. The riders will thus cross the finish line 6 times and on the circuit they will each time climb the Côte de Domancy of the 3rd category.

A new organiser, a new name and a new logo

With A.S.O. now organising the races, it changes its name. Indeed, known so far as the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré it is now called Critérium du Dauphiné.

On the race's website there seem to be some schizophrenia because even though it shows the name in the logo and also uses the new name in all texts on the website ... the title of all pages is Dauphiné Libéré - 2010 ... The web site seems to have been created a bit too quickly by the way because several pages don't exist and some information has not been filled in (the English version shows the edito of Paris-Nice)!

While adopting a new name, the race needed to adopt a new logo as well and we thus discover today that the Critérium du Dauphiné now uses the same kind of logo as the one we discovered for Paris-Roubaix and which is now being used for several other races organised by A.S.O.: the Flèche Wallonne (and its women version) and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Therefore, the background of the logo probably not is a cobble stone as I thought initially, but simply the new form of the logos for A.S.O. races and which is particularly adapted for use on TV. Personally I don't really like it, but I might just have to get used to it?

Changes in the sponsors of the race

A new organiser of course brings new sponsors with him (fortunately!) but some others have left as well.

One bank for example, Crédit Agricole, disappears for another one, LCL, to sponsor the yellow/blue leader's jersey. The historical partner of A.S.O. races thus adds together with A.S.O. a new race to its collection of races. Christian Prudhomme said about this: When you start a new adventure (the organisation of the Critérium du Dauphiné), it's reassuring to have your friends on your side. LCL is one of those friends and decided to follow us and be associated to one of the most beautiful events in French sports and worldwide cycling.

The Région Rhône-Alpes continues its sponsoring and will thus most probably remain the sponsor of the green jersey for the classification by points.

5 other sponsors disappear: Véolia Propeté, Ricoh, Casino Cafétéria, Interflora and Sotradel.

Skoda and Mavic, both usual sponsors for A.S.O. cycling races, continue their sponsoring of the Critérium du Dauphiné and AG2R La Mondiale, Festina and Vittel are with LCL three new usual sponsors of A.S.O. who join this race.

The media partners are almost the same as before: Le Dauphiné Libéré of course, the radio stations France Info and France Bleu and France 2, 3 and 4 for TV broadcasting.

    http://www.allevard-les-bains.com/www-agenda-25-FR-AGENDA.html

    http://www.lesgets.com/criterium-du-dauphine-2011-192.html

    samedi 11/06 : Les Gets > Le Collet d'Allevard

    http://www.lejsl.com/fr/permalien/article/4807928/Avant-gout-du-Tour-de-France.html

    lundi 06/06 :
    mardi 07/06 :
    mercredi 08/06 :
    jeudi 09/06 : La Motte-Servolex > Mâcon
vendredi 10/06 : Villars les Dombes (Parc des Oiseaux) > Les Gets
    samedi 11/06 : Les Gets > Le Collet d'Allevard
    dimanche 12/06 : > La Toussuire

  18. A priori on devrait avoir:
    5 juin: prologue à Saint-Jean de Maurienne
    6 juin: Albertville - Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse
    7 juin: Voiron - Lyon
8 juin: CLM Grenoble-Grenoble sur parcours identique au TDF2011
    9 juin: La Motte-Servolex - Mâcon
10 juin: Parc des oiseaux - Les Gêts
11 juin: Les Gêts - Le Collet d'Allevard
12 juin: Pontcharra - La Toussuire

    | nounourshuez | Wednesday 23 March 2011 om 18h05

    http://www.ledauphine.com/isere-sud/2011/03/29/temps-fort-a-grenoble
